Neither Racist, Nor Violent, Nor Silent, Nor Stupid
WE ARE COMMITTED to non-violence, but being non-violent is not the same as rolling over and playing dead, acting like dormats, letting the opposition DEFINE you. That's exactly what George W. Bush did, and with DISASTROUS results.
The path we choose is a path of non-violence, but it is NOT a path of passive "head-in-the-sand" CLUELESSNESS about what this administration is DOING to this country. The people who have joined this group ARE part of a formerly sleeping giant. We are ENRAGED at what Obama is trying to "REMAKE" America into. THIS page is but a REMINDER that our revolution involves BALLOTS & not bullets.
The opposition doesn't trot out the accusations of violence and racism merely to distract, though that is certainly part of the intent. They do not try to depict us as seditious militia or hateful conjurers of violence merely because it is a kind of food for Obama's frenzied minions of the left. The main goal of the opposition is to define the opposition ~ in this case the tea party rally attendees ~ "freeze" the perception of us in the public's eye, so that the public has a single caricature from which to view us, a.k.a. "racist, violent, etc." This comports with the guidelines provided by Obama's hero Saul Alinsky his Rules for Radicals: Rule 11: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, polarize it."

Yes, that's right. We said the "S." word, with full knowledge that some in our midst cringe at the word, afraid as we once were of alienating moderates and independents. We had the same opinion that you have until the healthcare bill was passed. Then we realized that the old truism that if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, teleprompter or not, it IS in fact, a duck. We will have other pages which coalesce support from other angles, but dancing around the dialectic, like John McCain madly straining to avoid reference's to Obama's middle name, Hussein, does NOT work!
Assiduously avoiding the fact of Obama's Socialism is arguably part of the reason he was elected in the first place and also part of the way he was able to push through Obamacare. WE WILL NOT MAKE THAT MISTAKE AGAIN. A Socialist is as a Socialist does, and fancy rhetorical euphemisms do not an election win.

Pledge of Nonviolence

Below is the Pledge of Nonviolence that Martin Luther King, Jr. asked those who believed in his message to abide by as well as his core principles of nonviolence.
MAKE THE SAME
commitment to non-violence that Dr. King
required of everyone who
marched with him. Glenn Beck featured this pledge on his show the other day, and he has said that soon he will be giving everyone the the opportunity to make that pledge public by ‘signing’ these documents.

Pledge of Nonviolence
1. As you prepare to march meditate on the life and teachings of Jesus
2. Remember the nonviolent movement seeks justice and reconciliation - not victory.
3. Walk and talk in the manner of love; for God is love.
4. Pray daily to be used by God that all men and women might be free.
5. Sacrifice personal wishes that all might be free.
6. Observe with friend and foes the ordinary rules of courtesy.
7. Perform regular service for others and the world.
8. Refrain from violence of fist, tongue and heart.
9. Strive to be in good spiritual and bodily health.
10. Follow the directions of the movement leaders and of the captains on demonstrations.

The Five Principles of Non-Violence
1. Non-violent resistance is not a method for cowards. It does resist. The nonviolent resister is just as strongly opposed to the evil against which he protests, as is the person who uses violence. His method is passive or nonaggressive in the sense that he is not physically aggressive toward his opponent, but his mind and emotions are always active, constantly seeking to persuade the opponent that he is mistaken. This method is passive physically but strongly active spiritually; it is nonaggressive physically but dynamically aggressive spiritually.
2. Nonviolent resistance does not seek to defeat or humiliate the opponent, but to win his friendship and understanding. The nonviolent resister must often express his protest through noncooperation or boycotts, but he realizes that noncooperation and boycotts are not ends themselves; they are merely means to awaken a sense of moral shame in the opponent.
3. The attack is directed against forces of evil rather than against persons who are caught in those forces. It is a struggle between justice and injustice, between the forces of light and the forces of darkness.
4. Nonviolent resistance avoids not only external physical violence, but also internal violence of spirit. At the center of non-violence stands the principle of love.
5. Nonviolence is based on the conviction that the universe is on the side of justice. It is the deep faith in the future that allows a nonviolent resister to accept suffering without retaliation. The nonviolent resister knows that in his struggle for justice, he has a cosmic companionship.
